Don't worry, we aren't going anywhere!  Our Minneapolis studio, our colorful home goods are only expanding but those of you who have come to know us by Wind & Willow Home will now be referring to us as ... Willful.  An exciting and a bit scary event for me, but the last 4 years have taught me that things happen for a reason!

The funny thing is that I never set out to start my own company. As you may or may not know, I was a kitchen and bath designer for many, many years. I loved my work and I loved my clients, but was laid off due to the recession (I also just happened to be seven months pregnant when this happened). After over a year of frustrating interviews, I realized that I was going to need to forge my own path, and so, Wind & Willow Home was born.

The purpose of Wind & Willow Home was always to create beautiful and practical goods for people. Whether that was a kitchen spoon with the perfect no-slip grip or a wooden bowl that was eye-catching and could also hold enough salad to feed 10 people, Wind & Willow Home has always focused on being a place where design and functionality met. But after several years of growing Wind & Willow Home, I realized that the brand (and me) were changing. While beauty and practicality will always be an important and founding tenant of the Wind & Willow home story, I knew I wanted to add another layer: intention.

Growing up, my family motto was always “If there’s a will, there’s a way.” I’ve chanted this mantra to myself more times than I can remember while building this business. Teaching myself how to build a website? Of course. Practicing product photography until I got just the right shot? Comes with the job. Changing what used to be a water damaged chiropractic office to a studio and storefront? Why not. My personal belief and guiding life principle is that there is so much that we’re all capable of if we love what we do and if we give it our all. And so, with this in mind, I’m so pleased to announce that Wind & Willow Home’s new name is Willful: Goods with Intention. We’re continuing this crazy journey we’re on with our same dedication to quality, craft, and joy, but this time, we’re doing it with intention – we hope you’ll join us.
